Dear Riverdale Heights Families,

We are excited to welcome our students back to 100% onsite instruction as we begin Term 3 on Tuesday, February 16th. Thank you for your support and partnership Terms 1 and 2. With some families reporting to onsite instruction for the first time in term 3, I wanted to provide a quick review of our arrival and dismissal procedures. Please remember that our doors do not open until 8:15 am this year. Students will line up outside their grade level door. Staff will be located around the perimeter of the building to supervise and help direct students to the correct entry.

  • Kindergarten will enter and exit through the main office door (S1)

  • 1st Grade will enter and exit through door (S4)

  • 2nd Grade will enter and exit through door (E2)

  • 3rd Grade will enter and exit through door (S2)

  • 4th Grade will enter and exit through door (N3)

  • 5th Grade will enter and exit through door (N1) Organize to the left of the door

  • 6th grade will enter and exit through door (N1) Organize to the right of the door

  • Bus students will enter through door (W1) once buses arrive and will line up for dismissal in the gym.

If you are coming onto school grounds to walk home with your children, please determine a meeting spot where you can socially distance to meet up. If you are picking up your child we ask that you remain in your vehicle and follow our parking lot procedures. In order to limit interaction, please have your family name, along with children's grades on a piece of paper you can hold to your passenger side window so staff knows who to call. The process works pretty efficiently, we are just asking you to have signage to help us know who to call for. Tuesday will be a Day 3 for all students. Have a great weekend! Jennifer Richardson "At Riverdale Heights families and teachers value each other and work together, because YOU matter." #YOUmatterRVDH Busing Assignments: Please check your bus assignments in the Parent Portal. Changes could be made through this evening, so check back over the weekend. To view your student's bus assignment on parent portal, click on More > Transportation. *Note that bus assignments will show for all students who indicated a need for busing. If you do not have a bus listed for your student, please contact Durham Bus Service at 563-332-4949.

  • To keep as few as students as possible on the busses, we’re asking that you consider taking your child to school, if possible.

  • Students will not be allowed to ride home on any bus other than their own. No exceptions at this time.

Incoming 7th grade students: We would like to invite you and your child to the Pleasant Valley Junior High School gymnasium to learn about the transition to PVJH. Due to COVID and space restrictions, we are limiting attendance to 2 members per family (2 Adults or 1 Adult and 1 Student). Masks are required. Kindergarten Hearing Screenings: On February 23, the AEA will be giving hearing screenings to all Kindergarten students. Learn more at the links below and share them with families with preschool and kindergarten aged students. Preschool Transition to Kindergarten (T2K) Meals Available for At-Home Learners: Starting next week, we will have meals available for 100% online learners. Usually, the meals will be available every Monday from 10:00 am – 11:00 am. Because we do not have school this coming Monday, meals will be available Tuesday, February 16. You’ll pick up all your meals for the entire week. You must fill out this form every week by Monday at 6:00am to register for the meals. Meals are currently free because of a government program. Vote March 2! On Tuesday March 2, 2021, a special election will be held to ask voters to approve Pleasant Valley's Revenue Purpose Statement. A yes vote will allow the district to continue to use one-cent sales tax revenue for long range planning to build and renovate schools, address major repairs, purchase school sites, install technology, and make principal and interest payments for school infrastructure purposes. This is not a new tax or a property tax but revenue from our state sales tax. To learn more about the vote, click here. Virtual Book Fair: Only ONE week left until our Virtual Scholastic Book Fair! The Book Fair will run from February 18th – March 3rd , and all purchases will directly benefit Riverdale Heights.
