Riverdale Heights eNews - October 16, 2020

Parking Reminders:  Much input, consideration and detail has been put into maintaining a safe and orderly parking lot over the past several years.  An unintentional consequence of our hybrid model and "half the traffic" has been some lax practices by drivers in following our procedures, which are attached here for your review. Please review these carefully. Here is a specific concern I would like to emphasize in order to keep things safe and orderly in our parking lot:

We teach your child to use crosswalks in and around our school and take this seriously as it ensures your child is not walking out in front of buses or other vehicles waiting to pick up their student.  With changes to entry ways we have noticed parents parking and meeting students at entry doors, then walking between cars (outside crosswalks) to get back to vehicles.  Please remember little ones are watching you and we do not want kids putting themselves in unsafe situations.  I am asking you to please use the crosswalks!

It is important we improve and reinforce these procedures for all drivers and pedestrians, especially as we prepare for winter weather. - Jennifer Richardson, Principal

A/B Calendar through January 15: Please look at this calendar for our Hybrid learning days.  Note that Fridays may be different than you anticipated.

Free Meals for All Students Extended through the School Year: As a reminder, all school lunches and breakfast are free at this time. The government just extended the program to June 2021! Take advantage of this wonderful opportunity. We will have meals available each week for 100% online and hybrid at-home days. You must fill out this form every week by Monday at 6:00am to register for the meals. Meals will be available for pick up every day from 10:30am-11:00am at PVHS in the bus drop off area.

Picture Day: Lifetouch will be here on Friday, Nov. 6 and Mon. Nov. 9 to take pictures of the hybrid students.  Online students are encouraged to come in on Friday, Nov. 6 from 2-4 pm.

Halloween: We invite our students to wear their costumes all day either on October 29 or October 30!  Because of social distancing, we will not be having a parade or parties this year.

·       Those wearing costumes need to wear a face covering.

·       Costumes may not include any kind of toy weapon (knives, swords, etc.).

·       They should not depict violent acts or the results of violence through the use of fake blood, etc.

·       Please be mindful that our school community encompasses children of all ages and costumes should not be frightening to others.
