Dear Riverdale Heights Families,

Riverdale Heights Families -

We are looking forward to a wonderful 2023 - 2024 school year with your children! I am always amazed how quickly the summer months fly by, but I hope this communication finds you all rested and ready to start the new year! We are really looking forward to having everyone back in our classrooms next week.

As the year begins I wanted to highlight some important arrival / departure information for your family to review prior to next Wednesday:

· Families should plan to drop children off between 8:00 - 8:15 each day, with pick up occurring from 3:00 - 3:15 in the afternoons. Staff is not available prior to 8:00 and after 3:15, and it is unsafe for students to be unsupervised. Please plan accordingly.

· Each family fills out a dismissal plan at the start of the school year, which is what our staff references when there are questions about dismissal. Please stick to dismissal plans and communicate changes in a timely manner so we can keep students safe and accounted for. Changes to dismissal must be shared through a note, email, or phone call to the office. Without family communication, students will not be allowed to change their dismissal plan.

· Students arriving between 8:00 - 8:15 will participate in our Fit 4 Life program or have the option to purchase breakfast. Fit 4 Life gathers on the playground. Students walk laps with friends as they prepare for the school day. At 8:15 students enter the building to head to classrooms. The school day begins promptly at 8:25.

· Please take time to review our Parking Lot Procedures. It is very important that families stay in their vehicle and follow procedures to ensure traffic moves smoothly. Staff will be positioned out front to guide students through procedures and call students to vehicles at the end of the day.

· We do not have the capacity to host guests for lunch during the school day. If there is a need to drop off a special lunch, or forgotten item, please place it on the table in the vestibule with a note, and our office staff will get the lunch and/or item to your student.

We are committed to keeping your child safe and ready to learn, and consistently reflect on our practices and procedures to best meet the needs of our students.

This year, ALL walkers and car riders will dismiss the building through our main entrance doors, keeping all other doors to the building locked at all times. Dismissal bells are as follows:

3:00 - Bus Riders and YMCA Kids Club students are called to the gym

3:03 - Walkers are dismissed through door S2 at the main entrance

3:05 - Car Riders / Daycare Vans through door S1 at the main entrance to gather in front of the building to be called to vehicles.

Families are encouraged to take Back to School photos at Meet and Greet, August 21st, as families will not be permitted to accompany students to classrooms on the first day of school. Our staff will be available up front to help new students to their classrooms as the year begins.

We greatly appreciate your support and partnership as we kick off the 2023 - 2024 school year!
