eNews - Riverdale Heights - February 5, 2021

Dear Riverdale Heights Families,

Make Up Snow Day: We will make up the day we missed on January 26th on February 12th. B-day students will attend school. A-day students will participate in their hybrid at-home day. We will make up the day we missed on February 4th on June 4th. If we have an additional snow day this year, students will participate in virtual learning. For more information and schedules for a virtual learning weather day, please click here. February 16 will be a Day 3. Busing Assignments: As we return to 100% onsite, we know families are interested in bus services. To keep as few as students as possible on the busses, we’re asking that you consider taking your child to school, if possible. To view your student's bus assignment on parent portal, click on More > Transportation. There could be changes to routes through Friday evening February 12, so check back over the holiday weekend to ensure you have the most up-to-date information for the first day of non-hybrid school on Tuesday, February 16. Students will not be allowed to ride home on any bus other than their own. No exceptions at this time. *Note that bus assignments will show for all students who indicated a need for busing. If you do not have a bus listed for your student, please contact Durham Bus Service at 563-332-4949. Incoming 7th grade students: We would like to invite you and your child to a meeting on the following dates in the Pleasant Valley Junior High School gymnasium to begin assisting with the transition of your child to PVJH. Due to COVID and space restrictions, we are limiting attendance to 2 members per family (2 Adults or 1 Adult and 1 Student). Masks are required. If you are not able to attend on your scheduled night, we ask that you attend the virtual option. Tuesday, February 23rd from 5:30-6:15 pm for students currently attending Hopewell Elementary. On Tuesday March 2, 2021, a special election will be held to ask voters to approve Pleasant Valley's Revenue Purpose Statement. A yes vote will allow the district to continue to use one-cent sales tax revenue to build and renovate schools, address major repairs, purchase school sites, install technology, and make principal and interest payments for school infrastructure purposes. This is not a new tax or current tax increase. To learn more about the vote, join Superintendent Brian Strusz and Chief Financial Officer Mike Clingingsmith at Pleasant Valley Junior High at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, February 9 or join virtually by clicking here. For more information about the special election, click here. Staff Appreciation Supply Drive: Help us out with our staff appreciation event! We are holding a supply drive to help our staff restock! Please consider signing up for something if you can. Monetary donations are also being accepted through Venmo @RVDHpta (please put staff appreciation in the comments section) or check made out to Riverdale Heights PTA (please no cash).
