BATTLE OF THE BOOKS: Students in grades 4-6 are invited to participate in the Battle of the Books competition. Using the Iowa Children’s Choice Award list, teams of students will have the opportunity to compete in a local, district, and regional event. The first round of local competition will take place during the school day on February 11th. PTA REFLECTIONS EVENT: If your student submitted an entry in this year's PTA Reflections contest, you and your family are invited to the Pleasant Valley Schools PTA Reflections Open House & Awards Ceremony on Thursday, January 13, 2022 beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Pleasant Valley High School Cafeteria (please note that this event is subject to change). The first half hour will be an open house for you to view students' artwork and the awards ceremony will begin at 7 p.m in the auditorium. Student participants will be photographed for submission to the local paper.
Since your student submitted an entry around this year's Reflections theme, "I Will Change the World by...," your student's artwork will be on display during the open house and your student will be recognized during the awards ceremony. At the awards ceremony, you will discover which award your student earned and if your student's entry will be going on to compete at the state level. If the entry was not selected for state, then you will be able to take your project home after the ceremony. If you are unable to attend, the projects will be returned to their school.
Please mark your calendar now and plan to join us for this special evening recognizing your student's artistic achievements. We look forward to celebrating with you, and thank you for encouraging your student's pursuit of the arts!

SPARTAN DRAMA EVENTS: You're invited to two special events for the annual children's theatre show, Frozen Jr: The Children's Theatre Workshops on January 8, 2022 and Elsa's Coronation Celebration on January 9, 2022. Click here for more information or register for either event here.
Public performances of Frozen Jr. are on January 8 at 4pm and January 9 at 2pm. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students/senior citizens.
2022 CLUBS: After school club sign-ups will go LIVE on our PTA website Monday, December 13th at 5:30 PM. If your student participated in the club for the Fall 2021 session, please give other students a chance to sign up as our spots are limited. Clubs going live are Kindergarten/First LEGO, Fourth/Fifth Book Club and Fourth/Fifth French. To view clubs and meeting dates visit this site. BETTENDORF PARKS AND RECREATION: Skiing & Snowboarding Lessons! Take on a new challenge this winter! All skill levels are welcome, and lessons are for ages 7+. Participants meet at Splash Landing and are taken by bus to Snowstar Extreme Sports in Andalusia, IL. Our bus departs promptly at 5:15pm and returns at 8:15pm. Snowstar will provide skis and boards (but you can bring your own if you like). Lessons will emphasize fundamentals and safety including proper use of equipment, turn and control speed, and how to fall and get back up. Those who complete the program EARN A SNOWSTAR SEASON PASS for the remainder of the season!
