Dear Riverdale Heights Families,

Busing Update: Parents, we apologize for any delays your child may have experienced on our school buses during the past several weeks. Due to a nationwide driver shortage, we are staffed to just cover our 32 bus routes; currently staffed at 32 drivers. In the event a driver is absent, typically we would assign a substitute driver to cover the route. Due to the staffing shortage, during the past few weeks we have had to schedule a bus to complete two routes which has resulted in delays in communication and bus route timing. When it has been determined that a bus is running 10 minutes late, you will receive an email and text message. At this time, we are onboarding a few new drivers which takes approximately 4 weeks. If you know of someone who would be interested in driving a bus for Durham, please have them contact Kathi at 815-540-9502 or visit durhamschoolservices.com

Stay Home When Sick: We have seen a high number of students visiting the health office within the first hour of school. As a reminder, a child should be kept home when the child’s illness causes one or more of the following:

  • Elevated temperature (fever defined as >100 degrees will be sent home and can return after fever free for 24 hours without the use of medication)

  • Vomiting and/or diarrhea (can return after 24 hours with no vomiting/diarrhea)

  • Child feels unwell: cough, low grade temp, headache, sore throat, allergies that causes disruption and/or prevents the child from participating comfortably in learning.

  • An acute change in behavior: lethargy, irritability, persistent crying, difficulty breathing, or new rash.

When in doubt please contact your personal health care provider. We appreciate you working with us to promote the health and safety of our PV community.

PTA Reflections: Do you enjoy art, music and dance or have an interest in writing, producing films and taking photos? Then join us and have fun unleashing your inner artist with PTA Reflections! This year’s theme, I Will Change the World by…calls for your own unique interpretation through the arts.
