eNews - 09.03.2021

It has been a great second week of school with your children! Our staff is getting to know both returning and new students to Riverdale Heights, and we have greatly appreciated your partnership and grace this week.

As many of you know, and others our learning, our arrival and dismissal procedures work best when everyone is working together - especially when mother nature throws us a curveball! With rain in the forecast again Friday, please make sure to have signage you can show, in your passenger side window, to help with calling for students, along with creating a plan for your walker in inclement weather. Thanks for working with us to help this run smoothly.

Jennifer Richardson Riverdale Heights Principal

Stay Home When Sick: We have seen a high number of students visiting the health office within the first hour of school. As a reminder, a child should be kept home when the child’s illness causes one or more of the following:

  • Elevated temperature (fever defined as >100 degrees will be sent home and can return after fever free for 24 hours without the use of medication)

  • Vomiting and/or diarrhea (can return after 24 hours with no vomiting/diarrhea)

  • Child feels unwell: cough, low grade temp, headache, sore throat, allergies that causes disruption and/or prevents the child from participating comfortably in learning.

  • An acute change in behavior: lethargy, irritability, persistent crying, difficulty breathing, or new rash.

When in doubt please contact your personal health care provider. We appreciate you working with us to promote the health and safety of our PV community.

Lunch Visits: Due to COVID protocols and spacing needs within our cafeteria, we cannot accommodate lunch visitors at this time. We value the joy and excitement that comes with a special visitor eating lunch with a student and appreciate your understanding. Visitors are welcome to take the student out for lunch (provided they return to school when the lunch/recess period ends). If you are interested in this option, please let us know so that we can check the student in and out of the building during the scheduled time.
