Dear Riverdale Heights Families,


Family Survey: The Pleasant Valley district believes that valuable information can be gained by annually surveying families. This data provides insight when analyzing the effectiveness of our educational program over time. Please take a few minutes to complete this confidential survey by May 27, 2022. Lunch Menu Changes: Please note the following dates have lunch entree menu changes. Thank you for your participation in school meals and have a safe and fun summer!

School Field Day: On Wednesday, June 1st, Riverdale Heights will have an all school field day! Students will have several fun activities to do as a class as they rotate through seven stations. All staff members will be involved to make this a fun and memorable time! Please note the lunch menu change for this day.

Attention 6th grade families: Iowa Immunization Law requires all students entering 7th grade to have one dose of Tdap vaccine and one dose of Meningococcal vaccine. Once these have been completed please provide the date to your school nurse. The State of Iowa allows NO grace period for the start of the school year. Students without evidence of these vaccinations or an immunization exemption certificate on file will be unable to attend school in August until the requirement is met.

PV Kindergarten Open House is on Friday, May 27th, in each of our elementary buildings for children who will be enrolled in Kindergarten in the 2022-23 school year. Please be reminded that there will be no school for our current Kindergartners on that day.

LAST DAY OF SCHOOL, JUNE 2: Elementary will dismiss at 11:30am.

Free Summer Lunches: Free summer meals for kids and teens are no hassle! No application, no sign-up - just stop by and enjoy. For more information about this program at Neil Armstrong Elementary in Bettendorf, please click here.

Work for PV: Pleasant Valley is looking for paraeducators, substitute teachers, and substitute paraeducators. The positions are perfect for stay-at-home parents and retirees! Wall of Honor Nominations: The Wall of Honor Program was established in 1999 to recognize distinguished alumni who have graduated from Pleasant Valley High School. Nominees must have graduated 10 years or more prior to induction and must meet the following criteria: academic success, outstanding success in their career, and distinguished human service. If you know a alumni who deserves this honor, fill out this form. We collect nominations all year!

PV School Supply Drive: PVJH Spartan Assembly is running a school supply drive for the month of May. We are hoping to fill 25 backpacks with supplies for students in our community. Supplies in need are: notebooks, folders, binders, pens/pencils, index cards, and post-its. Donations should be directed to students' language arts classrooms. Community members can also drop off donations in the main office. Thank you for supporting our PVJH community! Memorial Day Services at Bridgeview: The American Legion Buffalo Bill Post# 347, with The American Legion Women’s Auxiliary and the Pleasant Valley School District invite all in the community to attend Memorial Day Services. Events commence at LeClaire’s Glendale Cemetery on Monday, May 30th from 10:15 to 10:30 AM. The placing of a wreath at the Cemetery’s Flag Memorial will be directly followed by events at the Bridgeview Elementary School Gymnasium commencing at 11:00 AM. Music is being provided by the P.V.H.S. award winning band. Come join us as we honor those who have served. If you would like to purchase a new flag, Buffalo Bill Post 347 has new flags for sale. Postseason PVHS Soccer Tickets: All postseason soccer matches at PVHS next week will require a digital ticket - no cash sales. Boys games will use HomeTown Ticketing found at this link: https://www.iahsaa.org/tickets/ and Girls will use Varsity Bound at this link: https://ia.varsitybound.com/

Belmont Mile, June 4: The Pleasant Valley Track & Field and Cross Country Team will be hosting a 1-mile race on the evening of June 4th. Beginning at 6:30pm we will run heats of the mile beginning with the community race. Race divisions also include Junior High, High School, and Elite. John Deere Classic: The JDC is June 29th – July 3rd at TPC Deere Run. This tournament is more than a golf tournament, but a fundraiser for a variety of local charities. In 2021 the tournament raised $12.56 million for charity. Show your Quad City spirit and make sure your summer plans include supporting the tournament by attending or volunteering! This year the tournament is offering BOGO youth tickets all week, a special Youth Day on June 29th and both parent and high school volunteer opportunities.
