Dear Riverdale Heights Families,

Smartphones / Cell phone use: Over the last few weeks there has been an increase in students' accessing and communicating through either cell phone or smartwatches during the school day. We ask that if you are needing to communicate with your child or children that you reach out to the front office. This maintains a focus on instructional time and opportunities, and limits distractions for students. The district's cell phone/mobile device policies can be found on page 28 of the Elementary Student Handbook, located on the district's website. Thank you for your help in this matter to limit disruptions.

Thanks,

Jennifer Richardson

Principal

FIRST LEGO League Challenge Registration for 2023-2024 School Year

Pleasant Valley is offering an opportunity for students in grades 5 through 8 to join a FIRST LEGO League team for the 2023-2024 school year (This coming fall, August-December). Current 4th-7th grade students should register using this form, to participate this fall.

FIRST LEGO League Challenge is part of a global robotics program that includes more than 480,000 kids in 110 countries. Teams collaborate to build and program an autonomous robot to score points on a thematic playing surface (the Robot Game) and create an innovative solution to a problem relating to the yearly theme (the Innovation Project), all guided by the FIRST Core Values.

We are also in need of coaches for the upcoming season. Anyone can coach! No particular programming or robotics knowledge is necessary. FLL is more than just the robot. The innovation challenge is a large part as well. We will provide training, a meeting guide, and ongoing support to provide you with the information you need to coach your team.
