Transition to PVJH: We would like to invite you and your child to a meeting on one of the following dates in the junior high school gymnasium to begin assisting with the transition of your child to Pleasant Valley Junior High School. Due to space restrictions, we are limiting attendance to 2 members per family (2 Adults or 1 Adult and 1 Student).
Tuesday, February 21st from 7:00-7:45 pm OR Wednesday, February 22nd from 7:00-7:45 pm
This session will be an opportunity to meet the junior high counseling staff and administration to discuss programs, policies, and procedures at Pleasant Valley Junior High School. We hope to address all of your questions and concerns through this forum. Course selection and course information will be provided to all 6th grade students at the elementary conferences.
Attention 6th grade families: Iowa Immunization Law requires all students entering 7th grade to have one dose of Tdap vaccine and one dose of Meningococcal vaccine. When you’re at the doctor, ask for an updated immunization form. Please get your school nurse a copy of that updated form. The State of Iowa allows NO grace period for the start of the school year. Students without evidence of these vaccinations or an immunization exemption certificate on file will be unable to attend school in August until the requirement is met.
Valentine’s Day Parties: A treat from the Spartan Safe Snack List and a fun activity will be provided at the class party. To keep the party safe for all students we ask that you do not attach any food items to valentine cards nor can a food item be sent home in a backpack for the student to enjoy later at home. You are welcome to attach items such as pencils or stickers to the valentines.

Scholastic Book Fair: The book fair is still in need of a few volunteers on 2/23 and 2/24. Please review this information and sign up to assist. No experience necessary.
Variety Show: Does your student play an instrument, dance, sing or have another talent they would like to showcase? If so, sign them up today to participate in the Riverdale Heights Variety Show! Registration for the show will close February 14. Any specific questions can be sent to our parent volunteer at blavanyatm@gmail.com.
5TH & 6TH Grade Coding: The PVHS Women in STEM club is opening up its “Cue Bots Workshop” to 5th and 6th grade boys and girls! This is a free opportunity for ALL students and every ability level is welcome – no past experience is necessary. We will meet on Wednesday, February 15th from 1:30-3:00pm. Register here by February 12. All parents/guardians will be notified whether or not their student has been accepted via email by February 13th.
